“The Landmine is Me”

“Every morning I jump out of bed and step on a landmine. The landmine is me. After the explosion, I spend the rest of the day putting the pieces together. ” -Ray Bradbury, Zen in the Art of Writing

Sucker punch my heart break

burst open my cocoon too soon,

rainstorm my rib cage,

and wrinkle my veins.

Rearrange the furniture in my head.

You must be a landmine, blasting apart

in order to put yourself back together.
